The Cure released their first studio album in 16 years, Songs of a Lost World, on November 1, 2024, via Fiction and Capitol. The record follows 2008's 4:13 Dream.

The album has eight tracks and was introduced by the single Alone, with lyrics about loss, memory and mortality. Robert Smith and the band debuted several of the songs on their 2023 tour before recording them in the studio.

The production returns to the dense, melancholic sound of the group's classic records, with layered guitars, synthesizers and Smith's voice at the center. Songs of a Lost World was acclaimed by critics and appeared among the year's best albums.
