Peruvian-born, Berlin-based producer Sofia Kourtesis released her debut album, Madres, on October 27, 2023, via Ninja Tune. The record follows a run of acclaimed EPs, including 2021's Fresia Magdalena.

Madres blends house, Latin music, vocal samples and dancefloor beats with a bright, emotional tone. The tracks were built from recordings made in Peru and from family memories.

The album is dedicated to Kourtesis's mother and to neurosurgeon Peter Vajkoczy, who operated on the artist's mother. Si Te Portas Bonito was the first single, and the record was supported by a tour across Europe and the United States.

Critics received Madres as one of the most engaging debuts of the year, joining dancefloor joy with personal storytelling.
