Slowdive released their fifth studio album, everything is alive, on September 1, 2023, via Dead Oceans. It is the British shoegaze band's first album in six years, following 2017's Slowdive.

The album was dedicated to singer-guitarist Rachel Goswell's mother and drummer Simon Scott's father, both of whom died in 2020. The lyrics deal with grief, memory and renewal, with ethereal guitars, synthesizers and restrained electronic beats.

Kisses was the first single, followed by Alife. The group returned to touring across Europe and the United States, with shows mixing new material and classics such as Alison and When the Sun Hits.

Critics received everything is alive as one of Slowdive's most emotional and cohesive works, showing the band remains relevant decades after helping define shoegaze.
