Spanish project Robot Rock Alive will recreate Daft Punk's pyramid show in São Paulo, 20 years after the French duo's only visit to Brazil. The performance is set for November 20, a Friday holiday for Black Consciousness Day, at Audio in Barra Funda, on the west side of São Paulo.
The tribute rebuilds the Alive tour with synthesizers and hardware, plus replicas of the helmets and costumes worn by Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo. The show runs nearly two hours and follows the final version of the tour's setlist, with a few additions.
The night also features DJ Mau Mau and other acts still to be announced. Production comes from 4MZK.LIVE, the live-experience arm of the 4MZK group, which produced the São Paulo editions of Guy Gerber's Rumors party.
Tickets start at R$ 85.50 for half-price standing admission, plus service fees, and are on sale through Ticket360. The event is for ages 18 and over and starts at 9 p.m.
Daft Punk played in Brazil in October 2006, in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. The Alive tour ended in 2007 and became the live album Alive 2007, which won the Grammy for Best Electronic/Dance Album.
