Singer and songwriter Mari Ruberti has released her first album, Quando Perdi o Medo de Ser Grande, with 14 original songs. The record gathers the transformations she went through, from her first musical experiences in Laranjal Paulista to building an authorial career in São Paulo.
Her sound moves through MPB, soul, samba, disco and baião. The lyrics bring together memories, relationships and family matters, as well as her reconnection with umbanda and with her ancestry.
According to Mari, the title sums up the decision to take on her own voice and fully occupy her space on stage and in the studio. The songs register different moments of her path, from encounters to romantic losses and family situations that required working through.
In an interview with Tenho Mais Discos Que Amigos, she said she wanted the album to be a photograph of this moment in her life, with each track acting as a portrait of a specific passage.
