Linkin Park announced their return on September 5, 2024, with a new lineup. Singer Emily Armstrong of Dead Sara takes over vocals alongside Mike Shinoda, and Colin Brittain joins as drummer.

The announcement came during a livestream and arrived with the single The Emptiness Machine. The band also confirmed the album From Zero, their first since 2017's One More Light, released the same year Chester Bennington died.

Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Dave Farrell and Joe Hahn remain in the lineup. The new album arrived on November 15, 2024, followed by a world tour.

Linkin Park's return drew intense reactions from fans and debate over Armstrong's selection to replace Bennington, one of the most distinctive rock vocalists of the 2000s.
