Golden Hour, Kacey Musgraves' third album, arrived on Monday (April 2) and is described by Pitchfork as a record of mystical grandeur, in which the singer talks about the world as if she were the first person to notice it.
According to the review, the album goes down so smoothly that it might not even scan as a total reinvention. The East Texas songwriter is radiant and awestruck throughout the songs.
Since 2015's Pageant Material, the now 29-year-old artist has changed her perspective, the review notes: there was a Christmas record, a creatively charged acid trip and a rustic country wedding. All of that surfaces on the new work, which blends country with pop and a sense of discovery.
