Jay-Z was confirmed on Monday (October 26) as the headline act for the Super Bowl LXI halftime show, set for February 14, 2027 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. It will be the first time the rapper performs at the halftime show, 30 years after releasing Reasonable Doubt.
The announcement came from Roc Nation, the company he founded, which books the halftime headliner. Jay-Z has served as the NFL's live music entertainment strategist since 2019 and, as a producer of the show, has final say over who takes the stage.
Asked in 2024 whether he would ever headline it himself, he told Entertainment Tonight that picking himself too early would be “selfish.” “Maybe one year. Maybe,” he said at the time. In Monday's press release, he wrote: “From Reasonable Doubt to standing on the Super Bowl halftime stage, this has been a journey. Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world's biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true.”
The booking follows Bad Bunny's Super Bowl LX halftime show, which drew attacks from the American far right and broad support from artists and politicians. Jay-Z spent the year on his Jay-Z 30 tour, marking three decades of his debut album.
