Fontaines D.C. released their fourth album, Romance, on August 23, 2024, via XL Recordings. It is the Irish band's first record for the label and follows 2022's Skinty Fia.

The album was produced by James Ford and introduced by the single Starburster. The sound expands the band's early post-punk toward arena rock, with echoes of shoegaze, Britpop and Y2K nostalgia.

The band cited references including The Cure and the anime Akira in shaping the album's aesthetic. Romance drew positive reviews and sent the group on larger tours across Europe and the United States.
