Floating Points, the project of Sam Shepherd, released the album Cascade on September 13, 2024, via Ninja Tune. The record follows 2019's Crush and returns to club music after the ambient jazz detour of Promises.

Cascade was built around Buchla rhythms, modular synthesizers and techno and rave beats. The single Key103 opened the rollout, with visuals created in collaboration with Japanese artist Akiko Nakayama.

Part of the album was conceived in the California desert, where Shepherd worked on new ideas. The producer presented the material in DJ sets and live shows, reinforcing the project's connection to the dancefloor.
