Josevandro Pires de Carvalho, known as Evandro do Bandolim, died on October 30, 1994, in São Paulo. He was born in João Pessoa, Paraíba, on March 19, 1932.
He was a composer and mandolin player of choro. By the age of 13 he was already playing in choro gatherings alongside his teacher Luperce Miranda, and he went on to record around twenty albums.
One of those records was released in France as Le Bandolin Brésilien par Evandro, taking choro abroad and widening the reach of an instrument central to the genre.
