Scorpion, Drake's fifth studio album, arrived on Monday (July 2) as a 25-track double record. Pitchfork's review describes it as richly produced and studded with gems.
The album landed after Pusha T publicly exposed the existence of Drake's son on the diss track The Story of Adidon. On Scorpion, Drake grapples with fatherhood in a way that, according to the review, casts his arrested development into sharp relief.
For the review, many of the 25 tracks are built around standard-issue Drake themes, such as the audacity of rappers who dare speak his name and the psychic toll of fame. Even so, the album carries detailed production and moments that justify the attention.
