Caroline Polachek released her second solo album, Desire, I Want to Turn Into You, on February 14, 2023, on her Perpetual Novice label. The record follows 2019's Pang.

The album includes tracks such as Welcome to My Island, Bunny Is a Rider, Sunset and Billions, blending art pop, Celtic music references, Spanish guitar and club beats. Production is by Polachek with Danny L Harle, among other collaborators.

The lyrics deal with desire, excess and transformation, with more extroverted writing than on her previous record. The artist described the project as an attempt to capture a feeling of abundance and loss of control.

The album drew positive reviews and appeared on numerous year-end lists, cementing Polachek as a central figure in experimental pop of the decade.
