Carlinhos Brown and Orquestra Ouro Preto perform this Saturday (31) at 6:30 p.m. at Praça Mauá, in Rio de Janeiro's port district. The concert is free, outdoors and open to the public.
The set draws on Afrossinfonicidade, a double album released in two volumes on June 5 and June 26. It was recorded live on October 18, 2025 at the Concha Acústica of Teatro Castro Alves in Salvador, built around the idea of putting Afro-Brazilian percussion and symphonic music on the same stage.
The songs are Brown's, with orchestral arrangements by Paulo Malheiros and conducting by Rodrigo Toffolo. Direction and musical production were handled by Brown, Toffolo and Thiago Pugas, with mixing and mastering by Arthur Luna.
Volume one has nine tracks, opens with Segue o Seco and features Frases Ventias, from the classic Alfagamabetizado, which turns 30 in 2026. Volume two has eight tracks, starts with Seo Zé, a partnership with Marisa Monte and Nando Reis, moves through the Tribalistas' Vilarejo and Velha Infância and closes with Já Sei Namorar and A Namorada.
Brown and Orquestra Ouro Preto first played together in 2024, at an open concert on Avenida Paulista, and have since performed at Copacabana, the Concha Acústica in Salvador, Ouro Preto and Trancoso. The Rio date is part of SulAmérica Sessions.
