Anitta released the song Machika on Friday (January 19), a collaboration with Colombian star J. Balvin and Jeon. The track arrived with an official video built around a Mad Max-inspired aesthetic.
The partnership was presented as another step in the singer's push for an international career, as she alternated releases in Portuguese and Spanish. In the video, national flags appear on makeshift vehicles, reinforcing the production's global tone.
Tenho Mais Discos Que Amigos noted the expectation around the song at the time but made clear there was no official confirmation that it would be used as a theme for the 2018 World Cup in Russia — that was circulating only as a rumour.
