Andy Fletcher, keyboardist and founding member of Depeche Mode, died on May 26, 2022, at 60. The band announced the death on social media without giving a cause.
Fletcher formed Depeche Mode in 1980 in Basildon, England, alongside Dave Gahan, Martin Gore and Vince Clarke. He remained with the group for more than 40 years and played on every studio album.
Known as Fletch, he was a low-key figure onstage but central behind the scenes and in the band's decisions. Depeche Mode described him as someone with a heart of gold and a constant presence for friends.
The death came during the recording period for Memento Mori, the group's first album after the loss. The record was released in 2023 and dedicated to his memory.
