On October 30, 1941, Otis Miles Jr. was born. He would become known as Otis Williams, an American second tenor and baritone singer.

He is a co-founder and the last surviving original member of the Temptations, the Motown vocal group that became one of the central names of soul. The group grew out of earlier outfits such as the Distants and the Primes before signing to the label in March 1961.

Williams is occasionally also a songwriter and record producer. The date marks the birthday of one of the figures who helped define the sound of Detroit soul.
