Utopia, Björk's ninth album, arrived on Monday (November 27) and is described by Pitchfork as deeply personal, filled with flute and birdsong, about the discovery of googly-eyed romance.
The review notes that each video for 2015's Vulnicura featured the artist alone on camera, and that virtual reality placed the audience beside her. On Utopia, that solitude gives way to the attempt to welcome someone else in.
According to the review, the album is also a rebuke of violent men and a generous offering of love song after love song.
